Materials That Build And STEM To Charge Up Our Imaginations!
My students need tape, toothpicks, craft sticks and batteries to conduct engineering and design STEM challenges to team build, make new inventions or innovate products already in use!
Our school is made up of diverse learners and varied socioeconomic levels. I am the teacher of the Gifted Program and STEM elective classes. I do not just work with the gifted because I am a resource teacher and work with all the teachers in the building with differentiating curriculum.
My students have inquisitive minds and want to dig deeper into topics or investigate the "whys." They are motivated to learn, research and initiate passion projects.
When they have access to technology, they learn in a faster paced environment and can be challenged to meet new potentials and become more successful problem-solvers.
When they have the opportunity to discover and learn on their own, self-esteem, pride and retention increase exponentially. These students can be held accountable in new and difficult ways and enjoy the learning process. They truly thrive in a STEM-like environment!
My Project
The AmazonBasics batteries and recharger will keep us up and running much longer; we use batteries for our hummingbird creations, scribble bots and propeller launchers that we develop. In STEM, we rely on lots of varied materials to help make the students ideas a reality.
Masking tape and 3M strips are essential when performing engineering and design challenges; they help new knowledge really stick!
Craft sticks and toothpicks provide great foundations for our structures and learning about collaboration, problem solving, thinking outside the box and the design process. Building our knowledge is a hands-on experience everyday in STEM class.
