Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title 1, half day, special education preschool classroom. I have two classes of 10 students each with a variety of developmental and behavioral needs. My students are diligently working toward academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals.
Albert Einstein once said, "Everybody is a genius.
But If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
Some of the children are learning to attend to a task for a short period of time and others are learning one to one correspondence, the alphabet, and how the world works around them. My goal as a teacher is to celebrate small steps toward goals with each student, every day.
My Project
My students love to interact with their learning materials. With a projector, the students in my classroom can watch beneficial learning videos and watch movement videos for indoor recess/movement breaks. My students love to sing and watch videos. Having this technology available to my students will help keep them engaged in learning and motivated to learn new things.
My students love to work with new materials.
New materials keep the learning in our classroom fun and fresh for the students. From number puzzles, students are learning to count and recognize numerals. With alphabet puzzles, students are learning to recognize letter and learn the letter names. A combination of number and letter puzzles helps students distinguish between number and letters while learning that each serves a different function.
