I just started working in a neighborhood school in our city and I couldn't be happier with my new and blossoming career!
I teach 7th Grade Writing to 150 students throughout the week.
Our students are incredibly sweet and capable, but there will be a couple of bumps down the road. Many of our students are diverse learners that require additional supports, modifications, and accommodations; even more of our students are considered below grade level based on their reading and writing comprehension scores.
I want to provide my students a quality education with engaging, relevant curriculum and texts that act as mirrors and windows into other ways of being.
My Project
Students will be working in learning centers that focus on their reading and writing skills. The learning centers allow differentiated instruction so that small groups can learn the same skill with different supports. The learning centers are as follows: Word Study; Ready, Set, Grammar; Informational Text; Thinking in Fiction and Prose; and Extra Time with Ms. C. Many of my students struggle with reading and writing as it pertains to informational text, and Scholastic magazines are the perfect source for students to develop their skills and deepen their understanding of current events. I am so excited to teach my students with the engaging, thought-provoking material that Scholastic provides!
