Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing and have so much to offer our world! I work in a title 1 school in an impoverished area. My students are always excited and happy to begin their day in our classroom. They are anxious to learn new things and to apply what they have learned to everyday situations.
My students' background can often be heartbreaking.
Many times I have students come to school on empty stomachs, dirty clothes, and lacking in proper hygiene. I do my best to make up for what they are missing before they begin their day.
The reason my students are so special is because even though they face challenging obstacles daily they come to school with a happy heart and many are willing to learn something new that day. I have a sweet bunch this year whom I want to give my best to. Will you help me, please? Thank you
My Project
Recently our school has experienced some budget cuts and our students are feeling the effects. Paper has become scarce and students need basic construction paper to create educational and fun art projects in class. Each week we focus on a particular story in which we learn about a certain character, person in history, or a scientific topic. Students are then expected to write about the particular topic and when their writing is complete students create an art project to accompany their writing. Without the construction paper needed to complete the art project students are missing out on the art aspect of their assignments. Construction paper would be greatly appreciated!
