My students live in a high-poverty neighborhood where they come to school to feel safe, loved, and be given the best education possible. My classroom is made up of ELLs, English language learners, and students with special needs.
Working in a school with Expeditionary Learning, my students study a specific topic and become experts in the topic.
Final products are what is driven within my instruction.
My students are driven by their desire to learn. They work hard throughout the case studies to reach to the final product.
Having additional spiral notebooks for my students would be beneficial. My students have used their notebooks since the beginning of the school year and have depleted their stock.
Spiral notebooks will be used for my student authors to create stories, poems, letters, and daily entries in their journals.
In addition to these, students use spiral notebooks to keep track of daily assignments. This particular notebook is brought home to communicate to their parents or guardians about specific homework and important notes. I believe by having these notebooks, it teaches my students to be organized by subject. This is essential for my students once they start middle school in the next couple of years.
