My Students

In our horticulture classes you will usually find us outside at some point in the day!

My students are urban coastal children.

We live right on the Atlantic Ocean. Our high school serves 4100 kids--the largest school in South Carolina! Any student who take classes in the horticulture field come from an urban background, but they also show a love that they have developed for agriculture.

My Project

In our program, we do not use wholesale growers to order our plants from. Instead, we seed everything ourselves into plug trays. Once the plugs are mature enough, we transfer them over into 4" and 5" pots. The potting soil and pots requested will help aid in all of these efforts.

Agriculture classes were added to our high school because leaders of the community felt that students needed a hands on class.

Students who take horticulture absolutely love it. They get very excited when their plants are doing well and love to problem solve.
