Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from many corners of this world. The majority do not speak English. To me this class is an opportunity to provide these students with the education they need. My goal is to see these students grow academically as much as possible and to see them develop as good readers.
My students are divided among three classes.
These classes are divided by grades with different educational backgrounds. Many of these children have been in the USA for less than a year. Some come from Yemen, Dominican Republic, India, Mexico and many other countries. Others are English Language Learners who were born here but have an Individualized Education Program based on their needs. This sounds like a challenge. However we take fully advantage of our current situation. Students learn and celebrate each others cultures. Our school environment is welcoming. Students feel integrated. We integrate students culture to our daily learning activities that take place in our school. This help students learn the language and the different cultures in the USA. These students are eager to learn.
My Project
Color paper will allow us to create color coded assignments scaffolded based on students needs, posters to use as reference, and projects to internalize concepts learned. Tape will help us our room organized by displaying group work charts as evidence of our effort. Our sharpener will help us get ready to learn without interruption. The Bulletin Board letters will help us create titles where we can display our completed work. These materials will help us create a listening, speaking, writing, and reading stations. A fully equipped and organized classroom is a greater opportunity for succeed.
Donations to this project will improve our classroom because students will not have to worry about basic materials needed to complete their assignment.
Our classroom will be well organized and ready for great activities ready to take place.
