Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Back to school often signals a new beginning but not for my students. After a long summer, the students in my class are eager to be in a new class with a new teacher but often struggle with acquiring basic school supplies to be successful.
My students are eager to learn and willing to do their best given they have the right supplies.
The students are outgoing and sweet. They are eager to be challenged by new ideas and concepts. The school they attend is in a tough part of the city and is gang infested. School is usually the only outlet that my students may have in their daily lives. The beginning of the school year signals a new beginning in a hopeless urban area.
My Project
The students will be able to participant in writer's workshop with these vital materials. Specifically, the post-its, sharpie markers, dry erase markers, file jackets, binder clips and sharpener will make the lessons I teach come alive. Also, the students will be able to sharpen their pencils which is important for an elementary classroom. The material purchased for this project will make learning possible with the basic supplies that students need to achieve higher heights.
Any donations to this worthwhile project will make a difference to children that attend a school with limited resources to support their learning.
