My students need a plant light house, 2 robotic arms, 5 RoboTX, a K'NEX Computer control set, a K'NEX aeronautics set, a snap circuit, and two preserved animal displays.
"Children in California's elementary schools rarely have the opportunity to engage in high-quality science learning because the conditions that would support such opportunities are rarely in place," says Dr. Rena Dorph, University of California.
My students come from a high-poverty neighborhood with a very diverse range of home structures: nuclear, single parent, foster and migrant, to name a few.
My students love to be at school and enjoy learning, especially when the activities are hands-on. Many of my students are English Language Learners that attend a public school in the Los Angeles area. They are always excited to experience any kind of technology that I'm able to bring to my class.
Being "science literate" will no longer be just an advantage, but an absolute necessity. We can't escape from the significance of science in our world. I need a plant light house to plant flower seeds and observe the growing process of a plant. I will place the five Robo TX explorer in a science center so individual students can build the robot. This robot I will use to promote science and technology in class. I will use the K'NEX robots, the two robotic arms and the snap circuit for my GATE club after school. This will be an exciting science club for the gifted and talented students. The two preserved animal display will hep me to get my students excited about science. I want to get them curious!
The science center experiences are going to be enjoyable, leading to measurable increases motivation among students who visit these science centers.
Lets motivate the future scientists of this wonderful country.
