This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our magnet cluster school needs supplies for a sensory room! Hello! My elementary school is a public school on the south side of Chicago. Our school is a cluster school. This means that we have a large population of diverse learners from pre-K through 8th grade. Studies show that when children are provided with sensory breaks, they make great strides in instruction. Our school has provided a room to create a safe space and sensory room for our students. However, we are still in need of some wonderful items to fill the space. Please consider donating to this important cause!
My Project
The items I am requesting will benefit the entire diverse learner population of our school. We have been given a dedicated room for sensory needs. The next step is to fill it with meaningful resources. A trampoline will allow students to expend extra energy during a sensory break. A sensory swing will allow students to get sensory output that is not available in the classroom. This room will be of even more importance when inclement weather prohibits us from taking students outside. Students perform better in the classroom when given the space, time and resources to take care of their sensory needs first.
