Have you ever wanted to make a difference by taking part in a music program? Our recently, reinstated band program has grown from 10 students to 140 this year. We are expected to continue growing as the incoming 5th grade students try-out the instruments of their choice at the end of this year.
My school district is comprised of many different cultures.
Our students take pride in their culture and embrace our art programs as a means of expression and creativity. This strong passion for artistic outreach is why our band program has grown so quickly. Like many school districts, the band program was cut from the academic school day 6 years ago. Fortunately, the school district understands the benefits and needs of a strong music program. They brought back the band program this year and reinstated it into the school day. They are currently making positive changes in the district to benefit the students' band education and the students and community are responding very positively. Everyone has jumped on board.
My Project
We are requesting a series of solo and small ensemble books. Our students wanted to have a Fine Arts Night. This is the first Fine Arts Night that our district has had in many years. This music will be the repertoire that the students use as they show off their new skills and support each other in their learning and advocacy of the arts programs!
The oboe reeds and instrument ID tags are needed to help individual students. Oboe reeds are expensive and we are fortunate to have some very dedicated oboe students in our district. Your donation will help take some of the financial responsibility off of the family. The instrument ID tags will not only help students identify their instrument quickly, but it will also help the band director (me) keep the many storage spaces organized! These tags DO NOT fall off easily and this will prevent instruments from getting temporarily misplaced or switched between students.
The students, community, administration, and I are truly grateful by the support of our donors and sponsors.
The support the community has shown and their involvement conveys that this is not just a good quality band program. This band program is a reflection of the positive attributes of the community. Please help us continue our success this year. We are preparing for many positive changes next year and many more students. We can use all the support we can get!
