These are some of the most competitive kids I have seen. It doesn't matter if it is putting away supplies or playing a Kahoot game, these kids want to win. I am constantly trying to find new activities that will not only allow them to compete against each other, but also learn something in the process.
Even with this desire to do well, the honest reality is that a majority of my kiddos are playing grade level catch up in reading, vocabulary, mathematics.
All of these are necessary components to being successful in Algebra I. Ultimately my goal is to fill in the knowledge gaps while cultivating their interest in math through fun, engaging, and competitive activities.
My Project
I am asking for a laminator and some laminating pouches. These materials will give me the ability to provide even more immediate feedback opportunities and increased differentiation to my students. Going from no laminator to one with multiple functions means the ability to print off manipulatives, graphic organizers, student resumes, homework assignments, and/or anything else you can think of that will directly and positively impact student learning. And they can be reused too! The ability to reuse means more organization which in turn means more protected 1 on 1 and small group time with students. This would also apply to my classes that have co-teachers.
Being able to immediately laminate and eventually reuse accomodations when they are needed would be amazing.
