This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with a wonderful group of 7th and 8th grade students in language arts. They each have unique learning needs that need to be addressed individually. The students I work with all work hard to overcome their learning deficits. They make great progress and demonstrate strengths that are evident through their classwork, homework, and teamwork. These students would greatly benefit from any materials that will allow them to access curriculum visually with auditory supports.
My students are all sports lovers and readers of the dark and dramatic.
They love to see the books they read come alive! I am so proud of them all and the progress they have shown this year. Many of them were shy readers at first, but the small group and extra attention has made them all successful students!
I know that sometimes it is hard for them to not have access to all of the things other students do, so I am asking for help to do this. They all love accessing technology, and would be so grateful to have updated gadgets in the resource room.
My Project
My students are often disorganized. It would be so refreshing for students to be able to grab the correct assignment without having to unfold pieces of paper from their pockets and purses.
My students will receive assistance and weekly monitoring of their binders so that we can track assignments and make sure they have all the materials they need.
Once they have an organizational system in place, I expect that their grades will increase as well as their overall emotional well being and self-esteem.
My students are always proud when they receive something new. They understand the value of items and are always grateful when they receive anything that they would normally not be able to have due to financial restrictions.
These binders will provide my students with a "one stop shop" for all of their work. The amount of time alone this will save is well worth it!!
