My students need individual book boxes to use for differentiation of reading materials by matching each child with their own developmentally appropriate books during independent reading time and an organizer for reward use.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is comprised of children from various backgrounds whose parents all share one common goal: quality education. Most have transferred to our small school for its reputation as one that fosters a love for education in an engaging and successful way. Ours is a fine example of how success in academics does not necessarily rely on an exuberant amount of funding. We rely on things like parent donations and DonorsChoose.org to bring life to the skills we teach our students.
My Project
Our desire is that we can give each student one designated bin for themself to use during independent reading time. That bin will enable us to get more “bang for our buck” during reading time because it will contain books that are “just right” for that student’s current reading level. Students will be taught how to pick “just right” books for their bin and the teacher will be able to match students with reading material in their bin as well. During independent reading time all that our students need to do, is go straight to their filled bin and work on books that are truly going to help them become better at fluency, comprehension, word decoding, and so many other skills. Differentiation is a powerful thing!
