Mat and Logo Creates Space To Unlock Power of Sports
Help me give my students these logo mats and floor logo to create a safe space that promotes team pride and maximum benefit from basketball and volleyball.
I teach an amazing bunch of students. We are a community located in the heart of a blue-collar neighborhood in a large, urban area in Indiana.
Sports are a powerful tool to build confidence, pride, and learn valuable skills for post-secondary life.
You can't help but get excited about life when you are around our students. This community has a proud athletic history. What they lack in financial means to support the team, they more than make up for in school spirit.
My Project
So imagine you made your High School Basketball or Volleyball team. You practice every day to build your skills. Gameday arrives with you amped beyond belief. You are excited about running out on the floor. Then you see it: a worn-out logo on the floor from the 1970's. Then you get to the bench and find spots where moisture that causes you to slip trying to get to the bench.
How does a student play to their potential if they cannot get to the bench safely or has a floor that is outdated and uninspiring?
This is where I need your help. This floor logo and mats will allow us to make the floor a safer space for volleyball and basketball. The mats will cover the areas where moisture comes through the floor to provide a slip-free space. The floor logo will provide a look to the space for them to feel proud of. This project builds a physical and mental space for our teams that will allow them to get the full benefit and life lessons you learn from high school sports.
