My students need newsprint paper for gesture drawing activities, sketchpads to record their ideas for animation projects, tracing paper for comic book projects, and art pencils with which to draw.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
During my three years of teaching, I have never seen so many kids get so excited as when I announced the prospect of a school animation club.
My school primarily serves minority low-income households. I have been teaching mathematics at this school for 3 years and the experience has definitely been a fulfilling one, both for me as well as for the students. I also have prior experience as an animator.
The parents of these kids are a great source of support, but often they are working during the evenings when the students are getting home, leaving the kids unsupervised. What I want to do is use this enrichment club to not only extend the school day for my kids so that they have a place to be after school, but also to reward them for their hard work in their classes. I want to provide experiences that they would never have otherwise.
In order to cater to the interests of the students, the club will have three focuses: two-dimensional traditional animation, three-dimensional stop-motion animation, and comic book writing. We will be helping the students to create stories and make their stories come to life! To do this, we will need:
- newsprint paper for gesture drawing activities
- art sketchpads for every student to explore and refine his or her ideas
- tracing paper for comic book writing activities
- hard art pencils that will retain their point (4H).
