My Students

I teach first grade students. We are a Title 1 campus with approximately 36% of our students classified as economically disadvantaged.

My first grade students enjoy math, but many struggle with math concepts that are necessary to continue to build a strong foundation in math.

My students enjoy the challenge of problem solving, but I need more resources to help students build numeracy and math reasoning skills and teach strategies that are essential for building a their understanding in math.

My Project

The Hand2Mind Daily Math Fluency materials will provide the resources I need to help build a strong foundation in math with my first grade students.

The math talks and number strings activities will allow students build reasoning skills and make connections to math and the relationships in numbers.

The materials will also give resources for teaching math strategies that students need. Visual models and math manipulatives that are key items needed to teach these necessary skills are also provided in this kit. These are resources that have been lacking in my classroom that I know will be of great benefit to my students.
