Mr. Atkins from Oklahoma City OK is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 1 storage island mobile cart and a variety of manipulatives that will ultimately engage their curiosity bringing them one step closer to being Masters of Manipulation!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I have the distinct pleasure of serving as a vessel of knowledge to a group of Kindergarten students who have insatiable curiosities and who all come from different backgrounds and experiences. Each and every morning, I greet them at the door and witness the lighting of sparks within their eyes in anticipation for the day's adventure.
While my students face a number of obstacles, they are still highly motivated, take full ownership of their learning, and when subjected to exciting discovery opportunities, always rise to the occasion!
Diversity is the signature hallmark of our school culture! Out of 382 students, 84% are classified as "economically disadvantaged" meaning they qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. And, ethnically speaking, the student makeup for each ethnicity is almost equally represented with a larger population of ELL students.
I feel that "Masters of Manipulation" is the perfect opportunity to enhance my students' fine motor skill, knowledge, and build upon their understanding of mathematical concepts through the utilization of these manipulative tools.
These said tools will aid their exploration, allowing students the opportunity to experience the creative, analytical, and hands-on process that is encompassed around STEAM.
The Storage Island Mobile Cart will be used as a central hub to house and give students immediate access to engage with the materials and provide clear, concise organization so students are able to spend every moment during what matters the most - learning. Many of these tools will be utilized for group instruction, and during independent work stations.
In lieu of that, they will also serve the purpose of creating individualized math toolkits for student usage. The toolkits will include, but not be limited to: Learning Resources Link 'N' Learn Links, Learning Resources Two-Colored Counters, and Count 6-Sided Color Dices to aid students' growth in the following concepts - counting, cardinality of set, sorting, subitizing, addition, and subtraction.
Other materials such as the Fat Brain Toys Squigz Deluxe, LEGO Classic Large Creative Brick, Marble Run Super Set, IMDEN Magnetic Blocks will be the components that finally initiate our Makerspace project. Makerspace is a defined space where students have the ability to use a variety of tools and strategies to build and experience open-ended opportunities that will allow their imagination to run wild!
I believe, with your help, that moments like these will have such a powerful impact on the students' endless journey in the world of education. It is your generosity that will afford my students that priceless opportunity to dabble in the incredible world of mathematics and further instill the love of learning within their hearts!
