Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students here at our school are driven to succeed. They come from a low-income area and many are English Language Learners. In addition, they have learning disabilities that can make school a bit more challenging. However, they are also STEM scholars, compassionate kids and dedicated to learning. Each student is overcoming many obstacles to succeed in school. We would love to have one more person on our team!
My students are in the special education RSP program to get additional support in reading, writing and math.
My Project
We need more practice to master our basic math and reading skills. My student understand the concepts but need more practice to become fluent and independent.
They are already mathematicians but are still making errors that get in the way of using all the skills they have.
I would like to some activities to build into my math groups to support increasing their accuracy at solving.
They are wonderful story tellers and enjoy diving into books but sight words are giving us a hard time. Some words just need to be memorized and we need another round of practices.
