Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach second grade students in a low, socioeconomic area. Many of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. My students are provided with breakfast each morning and many are provided a "food bag" on Fridays to help them get through the weekend. Most of my students come from a single income family.
My students are eager to learn!
My students are special because they are loving and compassionate and make others feel good about themselves. My goal as an educator is to teach and help my students reach their fullest potential.
My Project
These math manipulatives will continue to enhance the growing minds that my students have. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy! Every new learning center creates the desire to want to become better at that activity. The number lines and the addition and subtraction quiz cards will again broaden the minds of these young scholars.
With these new math activities, my students will be able to choose from a variety of activities that will allow them to work independently at their own grade level and become better mathematicians.
They will also be able to choose an activity that interest them. The best way to pique their curiosity to learn is to add something new for them to explore. These activities will allow them opportunities to explore number lines in a different way as well as the addition and subtraction cards with the electronic pens will provide them with instant feedback. This is something scholars of this era thrive on. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent learning, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with different ways to become mathematical engineers.
