My Students
Our school is ranked as a high poverty school with 99% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. We are an outdoor campus and also do not have a gym. Most of our kids come from single parent or severely dysfunctional homes. Keeping students excited about staying active is very challenging given their difficult homes lives. Moreover, It is more difficult due to the lack of equipment for our students on our campus.
We offer sports such as flag football, soccer, basketball, softball.
The problem is that we never have enough jerseys or equipment. Kids normally have to share them or go without the use of proper equipment.
My Project
We have almost 900 kids at our school. It is a Kindergarten to 8th-grade population.
At our school, we have 5 sports for girls/boys.
Those sports are football, soccer, basketball, track, and softball. It is very important that these students understand the art of practice.
What that means is showing kids the basic essentials of the sports and what they must master to have success.
With items such as SKLZ quickster 7, we can practice accuracy with quarterbacks. With the soccer trainer, we can work on improving feet quickness. With the basketball quick trainer, we can work on a precise and accurate shooting. These are skills or routines these kids must establish if they want success in their desired sport. The quick feet net can be used to help improve motor coordination for our soccer players. Most importantly, it will show them the importance of practice and why it is necessary.
