My students need the early language folders to begin to learn and explore our alphabet. The reading and writing learning centers will help my older students to work on reading and writing skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently teaching a small group classroom for grades K-3 and this is a pull-out classroom at a Title I school, in the state of NM. I am a SPED teacher that services students with learning disabilities in reading, writing, math, social/emotional and behavior. My students are behind in their abilities and are struggling with their studies at their young ages of 5-9. My students are eager to learn and need more tools to help them be successful in the General Education Classroom and their grade level curriculum.
My Project
These materials will be used during centers so that the children can explore and begin to relate to the skills that are needed to become successful readers. Each activity will engage my students in the basic skills that are needed to become proficient readers. The ability to learn reading and writing will increase their success with the reading process. The language folders will give them various opportunities to practice the necessary skills that make a strong reader. The reading and writing centers will help the older students master their abilities in the reading process that they have not yet mastered.
