I teach in an inner-city public school which houses a program for Autistic Impaired Learners. We have a diverse population of students with various Autism Spectrum Disorders.
My classroom consists of eighteen children, two of whom are on the Autism Spectrum.
All my students are the kindest and most hardworking students you will ever meet. They are so genuinely thoughtful and selfless. Watching how all students accept one another for their unique and beautiful differences is truly amazing. I am the luckiest teacher on the planet!
My students thrive while using group math activities during our math lessons. These activities can be used in a whole group mini-lesson, a small group teacher group, or in partners. Once I teach a math concept to my students, they need time to work with and truly explore the idea. I will introduce every aspect of these math concepts in a whole group mini-lesson. Using these exciting books in centers, my students will love mathematics. Working together on the math and problem-solving journals on a daily basis will give my students the exposure to math that they need. The headphones will help when working on math websites at our Chromebooks.
