My students need math intervention materials, a teaching table, 7 math dictionaries, timers, as well as individual subscriptions for Time For Kids to help them prepare for high stakes state testing.
"There should be no such thing as boring mathematics," Edsger Dijkstra once said. It is my mission for all of my students to appreciate the value of mathematics as well as develop a true interest in it.
My students are in the fourth grade in a public elementary school housing grades pre-k through sixth.
They have three different teachers for their core subjects with 30 in each class. Fourth graders today face many challenges that we as students never faced when we were their age. Our students must prepare for high-stakes testing this year which means one test will determine if they are promoted or retained.
My Project
Our students desperately need resources to help them with daily interventions in the classroom. These resources include math centers, math facts games and kits, headphones for computer centers, a table to gather, as well as a subscription to Time For Kids to correlate the math with both science and social studies.
Our students deserve every available resource needed to assist them with their learning goals.
Sometimes it just takes a new and exciting game or activity to put a spark back into their eyes. High-stakes testing creates anxiety for many students. Please help us to reach our goals with some new, fun learning experiences!
