Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our fifth-grade classrooms are home to 135, curious, energetic, hardworking, and extraordinary fifth graders. Our students all have varying interests and abilities, including English Language Learners (our school is home to an ELL program that serves many West Ada students), Gifted and Talented, students who receive special services, and students who struggle with executive functioning skills. I am dedicated to helping all of our fifth-grade students develop a lifelong love of and enthusiasm for learning. Children love learning through manipulation and play and are especially delighted by Legos.
I hope to be able to combine children's love of Legos with math learning to enhance number sense and students' understanding of mathematical concepts in our classrooms.
My Project
The educational Lego sets requested in this project will help enhance my students' math learning in our classroom. Kids love playing with Legos and will be highly engaged in learning about math concepts such as division, multiplication, fractions, area, and volume using this incredibly simple and appealing tool.
The materials requested in this project are 10 basic Lego sets that will be used to create hands-on math learning experiences for our students.
Legos offer opportunities to make the learning of math concepts such as multiplication, division, fractions, area, and volume more concrete and accessible to children. Additionally, it will make math learning fun, and when students enjoy learning their learning sticks!
