These students are among the most diverse in the nation. At our school alone there are 83 languages and dialects spoken. They live in one of the highest crime areas and in some of the highest poverty levels with 78% of students getting free and reduced lunch rate in an urban district.
These children are eager to learn and be 21st-century ready leaders to become lifelong learners.
These students could use a variety of materials to assist them in filling learning gaps of our lowest Title 1 learners and English Language Students students along with opportunities to challenge our Gifted and Talented students.
These Math Manipulatives will support these multi age students to become Master Math Manipulators and to be successful in Performance Tasks to apply their learning to real life situations and prep them for state testing.
This District's Math program is out of date and these Math Manipulatives will support students to set goals and learn new Common Core State Standards while bridging the gap of lack of current curriculum and tools.
My hope is by having these manipulatives students will have equal access to become successful at being flexible thinkers and problem solvers that can communicate effectively to improve their love of lifelong learning.
