The students involved in our newly added drama program are excited to be working in partnership with Disney Musicals in Schools. Our school was one of 5 schools chosen out of 20 in Philadelphia, PA to participate. Our students are excited to add to our existing arts program at the school which now includes our art club, and other clubs we have in operation.
Our students are dedicated, inquisitive, and hard-working, and are ready to put on the production of their lifetime.
We currently have 60 students participating in the musical, under the guidance of two teaching artists from Walnut Street Theatre in collaboration with six team members from our school. We will be producing four performances in house, and will have the opportunity to showcase our musical on stage at Walnut Street Theatre with the other schools participating. We have been working hard thus far, and are looking forward to receiving all of the materials necessary to put on our first show.
My Project
Our school is excited to embark on their newest adventure! Through a grant from Disney Musical in Schools, we have been able to establish a drama club and this year we are producing “The Jungle Book Kids.”
This project will provide our students with another extracurricular activity and allow our students who are interested in the arts to pursue their interests.
Our production of “Jungle Book Kids” gives students who are interested in acting, singing, set design and costume design an avenue to discover their talents!
While Disney Musicals in Schools has provided us with the script and the expertise of Disney Teaching Artists, as a new endeavor we need quite a bit of equipment to make our production a success! We are asking for contributions for sound equipment so that the voices of our talented cast can be heard! As our grant is a three-year grant to assist in establishing a drama club for years to come, your contribution will certainly be put to good use.
