My Students

The students at our elementary Title I school in Seattle, are full of charisma, diversity, and are academically capable of doing their best work! Our students at Lowell work hard to be caring, responsible, engaged, safe, and terrific (or C.R.E.S.T.).

The second-grade team at Lowell would like to safely guide all of our students' learning and return to some traditional classroom normalcy but, with the current surge of COVID-19 variants, we, and our school community need proper masks that will keep us all safe.

More than half of our student population at our school qualifies for free and reduced lunch. As a Title I school, the Lowell community works with students and families who are potentially more at-risk due to families being unable to have jobs that provide opportunities to work from home and/or in shelters with many other families. With that, we would like to continue teaching in-person but need the proper PPE (personal protective equipment) to do our job and support our students and keep us all safe.

My Project

With the current wave of Omicron and COVID-19 cases nationwide, the community at Lowell is trying to prepare for both in-person and remote learning. In order for educators, custodians, cooks, and every individual student that is present at our Title I school, we need the proper PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure that being together and learning together can be done so safely.

Since we have been back from winter break, we have had numerous students and staff test positive for COVID-19.

In order for us to continue learning in person, the need for a more effective mask will hopefully minimize the exposure of COVID-19 to the Lowell community and their students and families.
