I teach a self-contained 3rd-5th grade special education classroom for students with a variety of abilities. In my room, we focus on what we can do and work to improve the areas that we struggle with. We are all good at something and are expected to help others where we excel.
"If you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live it's whole life believing it is stupid." I don't know if Einstein actually said this or not, but I believe it describes my students.
All of my students have strengths. It is often easy to overlook their strengths because many focus on my students' struggles or difficulties. My students work exceptionally hard to learn and do things many of their peers take for granted. I have the sweetest, most hard working group of students. They are very appreciative of kindness from others and work to show kindness to others daily.
My Project
My students need comfortable seating and fidgets to help focus during morning meeting including stress balls, puffer palls and exercise mats. My students have a variety of needs. Some students have low muscle tone. Many students are very energetic. Most of my students have difficulty focusing and maintaining attention for even just a few minutes. Foam mat flooring will give my students a comfortable place to sit on the floor. Foam flooring is very easy to clean and sterilize while still being extremely durable. The students will use the fidgets to help maintain attention. These fidgets can be used throughout the day as students need help focusing.
By donating to my project, you will help each of the students in my class this year and for years to come.
Your donation will increase student attention and focus. It will allow students to sit comfortably on the floor. You will be touching the lives of numerous children over the years. I greatly appreciate your support.
