Marvelous, Mind-Blowing Math!
My students need Scholastic Math Magazine to further their understanding of how math is relevant to their everyday lives.
My students look at math and their math textbooks with dread! Scholastic Math Magazine provides real world problems and my students are eager to solve them. They read the high interest, non-fiction articles and solve the corresponding math problems without my prompting or redirection; they love it!
I teach in an urban middle school in North Carolina.
My students are eager to learn but they are often swayed by the outside pressures of life. Scholastic Math Magazine meets my students where they are at and shows them how math is relevant to their everyday lives.
Scholastic Math Magazine provides high interest stories and corresponding relevant math problems my students love to solve! When they finish a magazine they cannot wait until the next one comes. I allow my students to work cooperatively with the magazines which many times brings about several different ways to solve the math problems. Solving these problems in different ways increases my students problem solving abilities. They are highly engaging so it allows me to differentiate and work with small groups of students.
I would love to have these magazines for my students.
Nothing is more satisfying as a teacher than seeing my students totally engaged, challenging themselves to go beyond their comfort level to solve math problems. The focus, excitement and motivation these magazines bring to the classroom are beyond words!
