My Students

Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, creative and strong willed. As English language learners & dual language learners, vocabulary, pronunciation, knowledge of letters, and letter sounds are so important to my students.

It is important that all of my students, especially my English Language Learner students have various activities, manipulatives and visuals to provide them opportunities to learn the English language.

I want to provide my student with many opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and to show their understanding of the things they are learning about.

My Project

In first grade the students are expected to make leaps and bounds when it comes to learning and understand math. They are expected to learn various addition strategies as soon as they come back to school in the Fall. Then we move into subtraction strategies. These two concepts are exceptionally hard for students to understand and they often mix them up. These math materials will be introduced to all of my students in whole group. Once they understand how to use them, I will place them in their math centers/stations.

These materials will be used year-round during their independent center time!!
