My classroom is made up of 17 preschool age students (3-5 years-old). They are energetic, curious, and creative. They love to learn new things. They learn through play and group activities. They work on math, literacy, language, science, fine motor, social-emotional, and pretend play skills. These skills are important for school readiness and their transition to kindergarten.
I believe every student deserves these opportunities and for many of my students, this is the first exposure in a school or social setting.
Due to the fact that many of my students come from low-income homes, I want to provide them with as many opportunities as possible that they may not otherwise get. Thank you for considering supporting my students!
My Project
We have a designated center time where the students are free to choose which center they would like to play at and change whenever they choose. Young students learn best through play opportunities. They are active, curious, and hands-on!
"Children need the freedom and time to play; Play is not a luxury; Play is a necessity" - Kay Redfield Jamison.
We are requesting math manipulatives to develop early math skills in a fun and hands-on way. When doing data analysis, math has been a low scoring subject. Math is all around us and so important for every day life. These manipulatives can be used in so many different ways so engage them in their learning. These materials will also be used in small group learning opportunities to help meet each student at their level.
