Our class is made up of 18 students from all around the world. They may speak different verbal languages but we all connect through play. In our room, there is a consistent buzz of conversation, laughter, and the occasional squeal of delight!
The energy of five year olds is unparalleled!
They embrace each day with curiosity and purpose and joy. Given simple materials this group of students work together to make magic! Plain white paper turns in to monsters, shields, snowflakes, and even a puppet show! Large letters on paper turned into a class project to decorate, cut out and post in our hall. They love to work together on a common goal, and I love to support their interests!
I believe all children need a classroom space that encourages exploration, practice, and play!
My Project
Putting a large magnetic white board in our Construction Zone will serve many purposes. The kids can use markers to design constructions, create scenes using magnetic props to expand their stories, and create marble runs.
Students will use engineering skills to design and test a marble run course.
We will use long, short and curved pieces to change the speed and direction of a marble. Imagine their excitement seeing their designs come to life!!
I believe that meaningful play is crucial to our children's development. These materials will help them develop math and engineering understanding through open ended exploration and fun!
