Our school is located in Jersey City, the second largest city in NJ. Our student population is one hundred percent free or reduced-price lunch comprised mostly of African American and Latino/Hispanic young men and women driven to do their best. Creative, driven and passionate are only words that scratch the surface when talking about our students.
My school is awesome because teachers care and are here to try to improve our students' lives.
We inspire our students in a way so they believe in themselves and try to instill self-esteem and character. We believe, through the use of the latest technology, we can open a door and give our students the opportunity to create a skill set that will enable them to reach their highest potential. This, in turn, will help them become positive and productive adults.
I am proud to teach at my school and sacrifice a great deal of my time, along with my colleagues, administrators and staff to help as many students as possible achieve one common goal, success.
Martin Center for the Arts #41 will be holding their annual Family Fun Carnival in May. Various activities and stations are provided for students and their families such as face painting, dunk tank, popcorn, henna designs, obstacle course, DJ, food, cotton candy, duck pond and a ring toss. Many of the areas where the activities will be held are directly in the sunlight. We are looking to provide shade and comfort for our students, families and staff during the carnival by providing tents equipped with sand bags to hold down the tents making them safe.
