We are a STEM academy. We are only one of six STEM schools in the state of Texas. We are beginning our new journey of STEM-based projects that will include math, science, engineering, technology, writing, and art. We are so proud of this honor. We want to help our students make great choices and create awesome projects, but we are in need of supplies to create unique projects. My students love learning by doing. We love building with our hands.
Working with my Pre-K students, I show them how to write.
We write chart stories, shared writing, and have morning meetings. We love to write in centers. We take our STEM projects and incorporate them with math and science. Students also write about it.
Our school is in a small town in east Texas. I try to bring in items or community members to give my students first-hand experiences. My students always like to explore and learn new things.
My students learn best by working hands-on, doing, making, and watching. We talk about what we are doing, how we are making structures, and how many items we are using to do this.
My Project
In prek, one of the centers I have is a kitchen center. I want to be able to change up our kitchen center through the year. I am in need of a market stand. This one stand can be a market, a farmers market, a drive through window at a fast food restaurant, a doctors office, a bakery, and more. This will help me add change to this one center weekly.
Help our kitchen center become a doctor’s, a bakery, a drive thru window, and much more for the rest of the school year.
I want to drive social skills and build on vocabulary in my classroom. This will help students talk to each other, use new words and learn new vocabulary. Any help would be wonderful.
