My students are incredible. I teach in a predominantly Asian and Hispanic community where 57% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Many parents work 2 jobs just to make ends meet. The are resilient young individuals who work hard to make every situation work for them. Many struggle to get supplies and materials need for class but besides these challenges, they persevere through adversity to achieve their goals. The is the reason I strive to make their journeys more fruitful by providing them with the resources and materials they need.
My Project
My students come to school eager and ready to learn but there are times when they don't have a pen to annotate or write essays with. We use these colored markers and pencils when they are taking notes from the text.
Teaching Social Studies can encompass areas such as American Government and World History.
There is so much to cover in such a short amount of time. I will have students work in collaborating groups learning about a section from a chapter and sharing it out with the class. They will display their finding using the easel pads. I will display these across my room so students can either take notes or pictures.
These easel pads are great for taking notes, annotating key points, or just illustrating a time period or time line. The students can use the various markers and colored pencils to make their projects come alive!
I have many classes throughout each day so these markers and colored pencils will be held in the bins so students can easily access them for group work.
