Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach first grade. My students live in a high poverty neighborhood and are all currently learning English as their second language.

My students would benefit from the chance to do guided practice in whole group. For example, we work out math problems together using our dry erase boards. Unfortunately, we no longer have dry erase markers that work. My students do not have the money to buy their own, and our county is in a budget crisis and can not provide extra school supplies.

If my children had the dry erase markers, they would have the opportunity to explore ideas and take risks in learning. The markers would be used in instructional areas such as reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

Please give my students the opportunity to engage in learning that will allow them to reach their full potential.
