Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Sitting still is overrated. It makes sense for students to be involved in their learning. These supplies would help me to keep EACH student engaged in their own learning.
My school has a population where over 97% of students are at-risk!
These materials will allow me to get a better idea of where each student is at in the moment of teaching each new skill and give them a more interactive way to stay engaged. My school comes from an extremely transient part of Texas. Some of my students are not native English speakers. Having a wide variety of teaching methods allows my students to practice skills they need help in while allowing me time to work in small groups to help ensure every student is successful, regardless of what they come in knowing.
My Project
These dry erase boards and markers will be used on the carpet in whole group instruction for students to individually answer questions during the lessons. They will be able to fully participate, instead of the traditional way of learning where you raise your hand, one kid answers and you move on. Getting 100% of students engaged will help scholars to master skills and concepts quicker. We will also use these materials in work stations and in small groups. They will help kids to work out problems, see their mistakes, and learn from them.
This project will give scholars a better way to stay engaged in all aspects of the lesson.
It will also give them a way to see their mistakes, correct them, and grow from them. I believe that students learn best from their own mistakes and from hands on learning. These materials will give them a more kinesthetic way to stay engaged in their whole group lessons, small group lessons, and workstations.
