Marcos de Niza High School is a Title 1 school located in Tempe, AZ. The Marcos de Niza Orchestra Program is made up of a diverse student body in grades 9-12. Coming from many different ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds, we come together toward a common goal: create beautiful music in a supportive atmosphere. Our students take great pride in the program and we have grown from about 90 students in 2012-2013 to over 120 today. In 2018, we are adding a Mariachi ensemble to our course offerings. Our program puts a strong emphasis on musical excellence, family, and community outreach.
My Project
When I first arrived at Marcos de Niza High School in 2012, we had about 90 students involved in the program. Today, we have about 120 students in grades 9-12 that participate in one of our three orchestra classes. In 2018-2019, we will be adding a Mariachi ensemble to our offerings. Many of our students rely on school-owned instruments in order to participate in our program. These violins will be used for many years by worthy students.
Your generosity will provide the opportunity for many generations of string students to partake in our orchestral and mariachi ensembles regardless of financial ability.
