My Students

My students are beyond spectacular. Ours is a 5th grade Advanced class made up of gifted and high-achieving students. These kids work hard, and, at recess, we play hard!

They are brilliant and teach me as much as I teach them, but even gifted children need an extra boost to help them develop to their fullest potential.

My Project

I cannot think of a better way to connect recent events to the Civil Rights Movement than to guide my students in studying John Lewis' astounding award-winning, firsthand account in March.

This year, in fifth grade Social Studies, we cover the 20th century and Civil Rights, and I want them to come away with a deep and personal understanding of the history and how it has shaped the world we live in today.

This book, in graphic novel format, will help my students see history not as some dead past but as the roots of the today we live in.
