This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It is a pleasure teaching 5th graders! They love learning, socializing, and cool reads! It's exciting to see how 5th graders aren't afraid to dive right into any challenging task I put before them. All year, I have worked very hard to create a sense of family and classroom community with an infectious warmth among my kiddos that connects us and enhances the learning environment! As a result, my students love working together in reading groups, especially.

This project includes a selection of high-interest, fiction and non-fiction chapter books by and about women who have made history, designed to captivate student interests and excel their reading Lexile levels.

Also, included are a few non-fiction-based Dr. Suess books, incentives for good student work ethics, attendance, and behavior.

Students will work cooperatively in small reading groups to examine big ideas, genre features, literary devices, themes, and cross-cultural connections. Additionally, these books will be available in our class library for independent reading pleasure. It is my belief, that these precious books provided by this project will cause students to race to the library to read these books over and over!
