I have 16 wonderful students that love reading! Our school is a K-8 school in a rural community in Montana. I am very passionate about the importance of fostering a love of reading at a young age and finding exciting ways to do so! This year we have been participating in a variety of reading challenges, both school-wide and in our classroom. The students love visiting our classroom library to find books they will enjoy! My project will provide a new reading opportunity for students.
My Project
Each year classes from all around the world participate in a March Madness style book tournament. This year the theme is "Brave and Bold".
This project will provide my 2nd graders with a classroom copy of each book for the tournament.
Through the month of March, the class will have a tournament style reading challenge. Following the traditional March Madness, students will fill out a bracket with the selected books. We will then put two books head to head in an exciting showdown! After our tournament is over, the books will be available for checkout in our classroom library.
This is an exciting way to get kids interested in reading! May the best book win!
