Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In the past, students used to learn about health, manners, and wellness from their families. Many of our parents do not have the time or resources to teach about proper health and hygiene, so we need the materials to help our students.
Our students are special needs living in a high needs school district.
Many of the parents face poverty and work several jobs to support their families. A lot of our students face obstacles regarding health and wellness, and require extra support in these areas.
My Project
Obesity is reaching a crisis level in our nation. The health materials will allow us to teach students about proper health and nutrition, so that they are able to be proactive in making healthy choices. Good health includes expressing emotions in a constructive manner, and treating others with respect, and these resources will allow our students to learn how to handle situations with their peers and the proper way to act in social situations. My students need books, posters, theme boxes, display centers and other materials to teach hygiene and good health.
Our project is very important because our students are starting out with a deficit.
These materials will allow us to meet or exceed the level of knowledge of their peers in other districts. Taking care of oneself and getting along with others are the most important skills to learn when you are young, and can help ensure that they will live a longer, happier, and healthier life.
