Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a group of energetic 7th graders with a desire to learn. They are developing their independence and love that they are almost the top dogs of the school. My students are incredibly creative and strive for excellence both in and out of the classroom.
They have developed their own community through the continued support of each other.
Each student brings a different story and outlook on life and they celebrate each other's differences. They strive to help each other succeed in all aspects of their daily lives.
My Project
This is my first year teaching. Since I am just starting out, I lack the basics needed in the classroom. I strongly believe that students learn best with visuals and by doing.
My students will be able to discover, hands on, how to navigate through our content this year with the help of these supplies.
Many of the items in my cart have multiple uses throughout the year. The students can use the colored counters to learn how to add and subtract integers, learn ratios or even learn about probability later in the year. The fraction manipulatives, UniLink cubes, and pizza game can be used to help understand ratios as well as help the students the entire year as we learn about fractions. The dry erase boards are also something amazing to have in the classroom. They can be used for review exercises, scratch paper, group work, etc.
I have also included a few motivational and math posters. Since I am just starting out, my walls are blank! What better way to keep the students motivated then with inspirational, colorful walls?!
