My students need manipulatives including magnetic letters, dry erase boards, and blocks to create hands on experiences and to give each child the ability to engage in multisensory learning.
My students come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and often face challenges bigger than themselves before our school day even starts. Despite these vast challenges, my students come into school every day with a zest for learning that is both remarkable and contagious. I teach the most adorable and energetic Kindergarten students who are all so different, and oh so special. My students are connected through one resounding thing, their joy and love of learning.
I am a Kindergarten teacher at a Title 1 school, located on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, PA, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My classroom is a place for students to let go of their daily challenges, to become engaged in their learning, and to be encouraged every day in a positive and affirmative way.
I believe that every child is capable of great success, despite the many challenges they face, when they are engaged and given the proper tools necessary to achieve.
Manipulatives and hands on experiences drives concrete learning for my students. In an effort to make learning more engaging to all of my students specific multisensory needs, I am looking for new materials to help them learn in new and creative ways, and ways that will enrich their growing minds.
With these materials, my students will get to practice word building with magnetic letters, write sight words on dry erase boards, and perfect formation of individual letters on play dough mats.
My students will also have the opportunity to work with pattern blocks to create and explore their imagination, as well as use snap-together letter blocks to practice building words in a hands on way. Using these manipulatives will make all the difference in my students learning and will keep them engaged through hands on experiences, even in their individual reading and math centers. Driving hands on instruction for my students is so important, especially at the Kindergarten level. These materials will make that possible.
