Our school serves children who have one or both parents actively serving in the military. Our students are brave, resilient, intelligent, and creative. As the reading coach, I work with all students and teachers in grades K-8.
Our students are active learners.
They come from places all over the world and instantly become at ease in our nurturing and safe environment. They bring their wisdom and experience and we do our best to provide them with the materials and resources to expand their understanding and help them grow as learners and leaders.
My Project
The students I service are struggling readers so they get a lot of extra support from many sources. When they come to me I want to make their learning as fun and interactive as possible. The materials I'm requesting will help make our small group learning environment more engaging.
Items like magnetic letters, wikki stiks, and googly eye finger puppets will give the students something to manipulate while they learn concepts they are struggling with.
Other materials like foam dice, translucent chips, sticky flags will be added to activities that students will utilize. The pencils and stinky stickers will be used as incentives for all the hard work these students put in each week.
