This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All of my students are unique in their own way. They come from a variety of backgrounds and home lives, but they all come with a will to learn. They are caring and kind and ALWAYS make sure I'm having a good day, even if they are not. They are always prepared to work hard and are constantly setting new goals for themselves to get better.

My Project

Math manipulatives offer a way to speed up the learning process. They can be used simultaneously while teaching a lesson the traditional pencil and paper way. Since most of my students are SEVERAL grade levels behind in math, playing catch-up has become the norm in my classroom. I am having to re-teach the basics that are expected to be known already, which takes away from the little time I already have to teach all of the curriculum tested on the STAAR test. These manipulatives will not only allow my students to learn at a faster pace, but they also make math more interesting than just simple pencil and paper or google classroom assignments.
