I teach in a huge, urban school district at a Title One school where one hundred percent of the students receive free lunch and breakfast. My school has students from all different backgrounds. In a financially struggling district, it is my struggle to make sure my students receive an education that does not reflect the lack of funding. I have worked to create a home away from home, a place where learning is fun. My goal is to create a love for learning in order to develop lifelong learners. This is important since for many of my students, I am their first experience with school. "Kindergarten is Key" is our motto.
My Project
My students need Osmo to interact more effectively with our iPads. The ability of the students to use Osmo manipulatives to interact with an iPad will add excitement for all. Making words, creating and solving number problems, and designing images with tangrams will provide students with a range of activities to explore.
Hands-on learning is a favorite among young children.
Using Osmo will encourage students to learn letters and numbers. They will be able to manipulate letters to make words. Using the tangrams will increase spatial awareness and increase problem solving skills. Adding Osmo to the iPads will aid in meeting the diverse needs of my students.
