Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This school year I want to hit the ground running. These students are caring, eager to learn, and energetic. I love to see their lovely faces first thing in the morning. My students come each day with high hopes for the future. I teach them that "no one person" is their own island and they understand that all can come to the table with something. "Sharing is caring" is what they will learn.

Many of our students are bused and from various backgrounds.

They are survivors. My students are on a path of discovery and it will be with a new innovative idea like "A Shared Classroom" that will set the wheels in motion.

My Project

My students have so much trouble visualizing what is being taught. With these manipulatives students will be able to see and touch what they are learning in real time while exploring the curriculum of fractions and geometry. What fun they will have learning the shapes and how to to draw them. Fractions are all around them and they will be able to identify, place, and check their answers on an independent basis. Third grade is an important because a lot of math concepts are introduced at this crucial year in their life. Also it will be in small groups that they will be able to hone in on specific skills.
