Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Special Education Math to 9th-12th grade students at a public High School in a high-need community.

Our school provides zero supplies for teachers. My students are creative and academically committed, but they learn in non-traditional ways. It is my passion to help them master grade-level material in ways that engage their unique learning styles but this strains all of my creativity given the lack of provided resources.

These manipulatives will allow my students to feel academic and personal success. By working with tangible objects and in a hands-on fashion, they have learned high-level concepts. Most of the items we use at this point are hand-made (by me!). My students will be thrilled to have the opportunity to use actual educational supplies!

You will make it possible for my students to feel real, academic success. For students who have internalized failure for years and years, success is something new. Your donation will allow my students to continue to grow in their newly acquired confidence and love of learning.
